I was invited to tour and lunch aboard the Silver Whisper ship whilst it was docked in Southampton, on 22 May 2017.
As with all Silversea’s guests, I was greeted with a glass of champagne, then escorted around the sumptuous interior of this charming small ship. I viewed the diverse styles of suites, such as the Medallion Suite through to the ultra-spacious Owner’s Suite (which really is like having your own grand apartment – large enough to throw a cocktail party and entertain guests!).
In this one day, I was able to experience at first hand the levels of service and attention to detail on which Silversea has built its reputation. An example of such detail is each guest having personalised stationery in their suite. The bespoke service is also exemplified by having a butler for each suite, who can tailor every aspect of service to the individual guest’s needs.
After the tour of the plush suites, gym, spa, pool and fine dining facilities, we settled down to a four-course lunch. When the term ‘all-inclusive’ is used by Silversea, it means ALL-INCLUSIVE. The beverages, including select wines, flowed freely – with the table waiter topping up as required or requested. As well as gourmet dining, the ‘all-inclusive’ extends to include transfers, excursions and lectures, expedition gear, on-board entertainment and covers gratuities.
Silversea cruising is not just about the ship experience, but also equally about the destination. Because of the size of their ships and smaller guest numbers (ranging from 100 to 540 guests, depending on the ship), they can get to the smaller ports around the world to offer a more diverse and unique travel experience. For some excursions or expeditions, there are lectures by experts, eg for the Galapagos and South Pacific trips, lectures are given by a member of the Royal Geographical Society.
Luxury cruising is becoming a popular choice for the discerning traveller, and with waiting lists for some of Silversea’s voyages, don’t wait too long before deciding to book! If you have any questions, please do contact me: firstname.lastname@example.org
